Chelation Therapy

Chelation Therapy

Chelation therapy is an established treatment for the removal of metal toxins by converting them to a chemically inert form that can be excreted in the urine. Chelation means "to grab" or "to bind. Chelation therapy consists of intravenous administration of chelating agents such as EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) that grabs onto heavy metals such as lead, aluminum, mercury, arsenic, zinc, iron, copper, and calcium and removes them from the body. Heavy metal toxicity has been implicated in a host of chronic degenerative diseases.

EDTA chelation is used in orthodox medicine as the conventional therapy of choice for heavy metal toxicity.  EDTA-based chelation therapy may also be used to potentially reduce the risk of adverse cardiovascular outcomes according to the TACT trial published in 2013.

EDTA may remove vital minerals from the body along with the toxic metals and at Glow Wellness we ensure these vitamins and minerals are added to the EDTA solution to maintain optimal levels. IV chelation therapy is administered over a period of two and a half to three hours.  Unless otherwise ordered, 10 to 12 treatments are recommended.

Chelation IV therapy should be part of any laser tattoo removal program as many of the inks contain heavy metals. We do require a physician sign-off before starting chelation.
